In 2007 Laurel McLaughlin, the owner of Windline Farm, acquired Lokomotion and Wayana K in Germany as 3 year olds. With a background in horses which began in Caledon Ontario where her family operated Blue Ridge Farm, a training centre for eventing under the direction of Colonel Michael Gutowski, Laurel had harbored an interest in horses which was side tracked by work and family responsibilities. She had competed successfully in her youth becoming North American Junior Event Champion at Jokers Hill before heading off to law school. Her father was instrumental in supporting the Canadian Eventing Team through the acquisition of horses who represented Canada at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and won the 1978 World Eventing Championship Gold Medal in Kentucky. It was only when her own daughters demonstrated a serious interest in riding that Laurel began to see the possibility of breeding and training high quality horses.
